OUR MISSION: TO BUILD & FIX                                   AWESOME GUNS

RH Custom Guns  was founded in 2007 by Ryan Hoover. His love of firearms and the gunsmithing art dates back to his teenage years. As Ryan jokingly says “I started taking guns apart at fifteen; I started getting them back together at eighteen.”

After high school, Ryan enlisted in the Navy as a Gunner's Mate. Upon his honorable discharge, he spent a year working at McBride's Guns in Austin, TX. This was a great opportunity, as he was in charge of maintenance on all of the used guns that were purchased, giving him the chance to learn about dozens of types of guns.

After a year at McBride's, Ryan attended Texas State Technical College in Waco, TX, where he graduated with honors with a Certificate in Machining.

Ryan moved back to his hometown of Fredericksburg, TX and opened a shop out of his garage in June of 2007. “Those were fun times but hard. Working in the Texas heat without an air conditioner or any breeze can be miserable. Consequently, it was hard to keep regular hours because I wanted to work more at night than during the day. After I got married it quickly became apparent that I needed a space of my own. People would knock on my front door any day at almost any time to have me look at their gun. My wife did not love that!” Today, RH Custom Guns operates out of a much larger shop in Fredericksburg.

With a workload most other gunsmiths would envy, Ryan is not content to rest on his laurels. "I love hunting and building guns, and I want to make that accessible for everyone. In my shop, our motto is: There is no such thing as a stupid question. I truly believe that, and I want to share my knowledge with everyone to remove any confusion, intimidation, or fear they may have towards guns."

Toward that end, Ryan has put RH Custom Guns on a straightforward mission to build awesome guns, while maintaining an welcoming atmosphere to anyone who comes in the shop.

"We don't do politics," Ryan says,"we do guns."
